Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

Thought I’d take a quick moment to jump in on this month’s Blog Hop with PTI.  Its a serious quick moment, because this card came together in about 10 minutes!  (That, and my children are in much need of a nap as I type this…)

I pulled out Simply Stationery because it was my first PTI purchase!  I love it so much, but it has been neglected lately.  Just stamped two of the frame images in versamark and added a sentiment (from Mat Stack 2) on top.  A little glitter, a little impression-plating (?!?), and a little black strip make it a nice little note.  I think it’d be fun to do a set of these in a variety of colors!  Maybe when I have more time ;)  Thanks for stopping in today!

Hugs to you!

Gray is the New Black

Sometimes our souls feel a thud.

I haven’t been feeling the mega-impact kind of thud lately, but lots of little bumps for sure.  The biggest bump, which did feel like a thud for a few days, was a dear friend’s cancer diagnosis.  Someone so loved, so full, so radiant.

In my thud, I felt anger, doubt, worry – you name it.  And, after much prayer and tears, I took ink to paper.

And it felt goooood.

This creation was truly therapeutic for me.  I love it’s message & symbolism, and I love that I get to share it with my friend during this struggle.

I went with a bit of a gray-dient for this Moxie Fab World challenge, repeatedly stamping off as I worked toward the center.  The sentiment (“hope heals”) is embossed with white powder, and I added some shimmer spritz to the inner portion of the frame.

Thank you for looking, and sharing, and listening.  I hope your creative outlets encourage hope in you & those you love.

Tuesday Trigger: Winter White

Hi there! Thanks for popping in.

This is my first time playing along with the Moxie Fab World  Tuesday Trigger.   Once I saw this image, I just couldn’t get it out of my head!  So beautiful…  You know you still have time to play along ;)

Here’s my take:

A couple of things:

  • I incorporated an elegant floral image and embellished with a few little white gems because I loooved all the layered flowers and their detail.  I used 3 layers to represent the 3 layers of the cake.
  • For the background, first I heat embossed my sentiment with white powder, then I sprayed it with a glitter mist.  It’s supposed to be fast drying, so I just saturated it.  That kept it wet long enough to coat with glitter.  And, what do you know, it worked!!!  Yay.  Looks like sugar to me, which just takes me back to that photo…

Please tell me I’m not the only one wondering what that beauty would taste like!  Hope you’re having a white sugar wintry kind of day!

Glitter is Glam!

Happy New Year to you!  Got a chance to glitter up some cards (and my face, hair, craft room floor, and perhaps even a couple of my children and/or dogs at the same time) this weekend and I’m sneaking them in juuust under the wire for Cath’s current Moxie Fab challenge.  I so enjoy using glitter, and love thinking up fun ways to use it.  Too bad 95% of the time it’s just not what I had planned.  Ah, creative trial and error.  Always fun.

Okay, first up is my favie.  Although she’s not steeped in glitter, I did a shimmer spritz on the card base (maybe hard to tell in the photo), and glittered up my little rosettes.  They look like candied little flower buds and that just makes me happy.

Number two is a birthday card for our niece whose birthday is next week!  This card in all of its sparkly, pink, maybe girly, maybe punkish-ness is just so her.  Definitely a sassy one, but oh so sweet at just the right time.  Know any 8 year olds like that?  8 going on 18?!?  Whoa.  Anyway, I got to use some of Wplus9’s new 80’s themed set, and it was just a blast.

So happy you took a minute to pop by!  Hope to see you again soon!
